I have found that almost al printers can often appear to be free of paper which is often a cause of the symptoms you describe; whereas “somewhere in the paper path, or the sensor areas, there can be a wee small bit of paper or other debris stuck in there. One has to sometimes really look for it.
Also I have found that a blast of compressed air (cans bought from any decent computer etc. store) can often blow clear all manner of dust etc.; which dust etc. may not be immediately evident, or easy to remove…

If you have “hide known file extensions”, turned on then turn them off so you can see the extension.
If you had it already turned off and you renamed a file without including the extension then you will cause this kind of problem. If that is what happened then what is the program that normally opened the file like MS Word or what? If it was MS word then add the “.DOC” extension to the file and it will fix your open with problem. If it is MS Excel the add “.XLS” extension to the file and so on. Tell us more about the file you are trying to open and we can help you.

The DW1501 is a card commonly used in laptops. The motherboard has a special slot for it but I’m not sure if I’d call the card “integrated”, anymore than I would call a graphics card integrated because it has its own PCIe slot. The Broadcom ethernet however, IS integrated. If you’re using the wired connection, the wifi card is unnecessary. If you do a search, you’ll find the problem is not hardware related, it’s Windows 10 related. Uninstall the current driver & force the Win7 driver to install.
EDIT: I’d bet you didn’t have these issues until upgrading to Win10. Your system is a bit dated & there are no Win10 drivers for the old Broadcom ethernet controller. Win10 loads generic drivers but as stated in the above links, those drivers don’t work properly. If you want to spend money on hardware, that’s your business, but I don’t think there’s a combo card (wireless + wired) available. You would have to buy them separately. But once again, if you’re using the wired connection, the wireless isn’t needed. IMHO, drivers are the problem, not hardware. Make sure any hardware you purchase is fully supported & includes Win10 drivers.

Aren't they all going to be the same? There's no benefit for a manufacturer to add extra hardware for 1.1 if he's already going to have 2.0 especially since 2.0 is backwards compatible. For USB 2.0, device manager will show additional USB controllers. They are there to provide the backward compatibility but I recall at least one previous thread where the OP thought he had separate USB 1.1 ports because of those device manager entries.
