Performing Automatic IDE Configuration

My assistant was installing drivers on a dell optiplex 745 started bios upgrade by mistake,he switched the machine off on attempt to stop the process,now the machine doesn’t boot.all it does is bring a message ” performing automatic IDE configuration.I have tried resetting the cmos by removing the cmos battery.please assist

  1. If the BIOS was corrupted, I doubt you would even see the Dell splash screen. Are you using a USB keyboard? If you are & your board supports it, try switching to a PS/2 keyboard. That may allow you to get into the BIOS menu. And since the error mentions IDE, try unplugging all IDE cables from the motherboard, then see if the BIOS is accessible.
