  3. Then try clearing the CMOS by using the jumper or removing the battery. Either of those must be done while the computer is unplugged. If that doesn't work then you may need to update the BIOS.

I honestly dont think your ipod can be infected, the IOS is needs to be jailbroken in order to execute a virus, and if your ipod is not jailbroken i wouldnt worry too much about it. Having said that, i you are still concered, instead of trying to find an application to scan it, which i doubt will work anyways, i would just reset the ipod to factory and be done with it that way you can be sure the virus, if any are gone.

In terms of wifi, i understand it can be a bit dawnting but no need to worry, if you have questions just post them here and the experts on this site will no doubt help, we are a friendly bunch 🙂

As long as you have a password set for your wifi and have either WEP, WPA or WPA2 encryption enabled (depending on your router) you should be fine. A firewall is also recommended for an additional layer of security.

It may be worth backing your photos up onto a DVD/Blueray disk, hard drives at some point will fail, sometimes without warning, it is possible to recoever data on a failed hard drive sometimes, but it is expensive.

You can scan your usb drives, just plug them in before you run a scan and they should be scanned automatically. Some programs like AVG will give you the option to select which drives you want to scan

    So you clarify:

Your ipod cannot be infected unless its jailbroken

Im not aware of any ipod scanning tools, but if you still want to be sure i would reset to factory

Backup your data to a DVD of Blueray

Download the software i recommended above update them once installed and perform a full scan.

Let us know how you get on

You didn’t state why you need more graphics memory but if it’s for gaming, changing the memory setting isn’t going to be of much help. Graphics performance comes from the GPU & the HD 2500 is weak. You’ll need to install an actual graphics card which has a decent GPU & it’s own dedicated memory (preferably GDDR5). And if you upgrade to a card, be sure to get one that will work with the 300W PSU or the PSU will need to be upgraded as well.

    Two approaches.

One is to connect the hard drive via a usb adapter to a working computer, and then you can access its contents. Then copy all your files to dvd at least. If possible another external hard drive too is nice(r). Check the copies are accessible.

Other approach. Download and burn to a dvd the ubuntu ISO – ubuntu.com. Ubuntu is a free Linux variant.. With the drive installed in a computer, boot that computer with the ubuntu dvd. It will load into RAM only, unless you tell it to install to the current hard drive – which do not.

It will boot etc. to a typical desktop, and then you can access the hard drive – now just a resource for ubuntu; and again copy files to dvd as above.
