Nbtstat -n: NetBT Is Not Bound To Any Devices

  • 0

network neighborhood shows only server itself even after enabling NetBios over TCP/IP and running services such as DHCP client, Computer Browser, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, Upnp Device Host. Even firewall is disabled, the associated registries are set to 1 also.
(This is a test site and has no problem with windows 7 but will not list out 2k3 and xp nodes.)

ipconfig /all : shows Netbios is disabled
nbtstat -n : NetBT is bound to any devices
ping NetBiosName : could not find host name NetbiosName

  1. If you want the features of netbios you need to enable it on all devices you want to see.

You don’t ping a netbios name but a tcp/ip host name.
