If you know when it first started happening and it was recent you could try system restore. The reason I say that is because even if the keyboard was faulty it is a bit odd that the system cannot then delete the line of + signs it put in.

    I too am in UK.

To make it easier this is what I did:
    1. In Excel I typed in stupidgoogle1, stupidgoogle2, stupidgoogle3, etc., etc., all the way to stupidgoogle100
    2. Then I just cut and pasted into gmail when changing password.
    3. This way your not typing each password over and over again, because gmail will ask you for your old password and ask you to type in the new password twice. Way too much typing.

The bottom line is you restored the shortcut, not the Word document file. Although you said you’ve been through all that, it doesn’t really tell us what you have done to find the file. If you could provide the steps you have taken so far, it would help us from repeating what you have already done and perhaps suggest options you haven’t tried yet.

Have you tried doing a wildcard search such as
    *.doc or *.docx ?

One more option to consider is if you use Office 365. Office 365 gives you the option to store your files online in your One Drive cloud storage. If you are using Office 365, take a look and see if they are stored in your One Drive online storage.

    16 feet 5 inches
USB Cable Length Limitations: The USB specification limits the length of a cable between full speed (or high speed) devices to 5 meters (16 feet 5 inches) and for low speed devices the limit is 3 meters (9 feet 10 inches).
