Some mboards develop this problem – electrolytic capacitors were installed on them that were not properly made, and they fail eventually – the mboard manufacturer didn’t know they were improperly made at the time the mboard was made.

Open up your case and examine the mboard to see if you have bad capacitors, and/or other findable signs of mboard damage .

What to look for, mboard symptoms, example pictures:
    http://www.badcaps.net/pages.php?vid=5
    Home page that site
    – what the problem is caused by
    – he says there are STILL bad capacitors on more recent mboards.
    http://www.badcaps.net/

Pictures of blown capacitors, other components, power supplies, fried Athlon cpus, etc.:
    http://www.halfdone.com/Personal/Jo…
    …..

If you mboard shows no signs of failing or failed capacitors (a failed capacitor might be missing hecause it has blown up – only it’s leads are still where it was)…

It is extremely RARE for ram that worked fine previously in the same mboard to go BAD, but a poor connection of the ram in the ram slots, or installing ram that is NOT 100% compatible with your mboard, can cause you problems.

If you have NOT changed which ram you have installed, and if you have NOT been fiddling with your ram, before this happened, then there’s probably nothing wrong with your ram or it’s connection to the ram slots.

Emachines desktop computers usually have a BESTEC power supply.
BESTEC power supplies have a reputation of malfunctioning and failing a lot more often than average, and when they do that, they are a lot more likely than average to damage something else, especially when they fail completely, often the mboard.
A BESTEC power supply malfunctioning or failing is probably the NUMBER ONE REASON an emachines desktop system fails to boot normally !

If you DO have a BESTEC power supply, that’s probably what is causing your problem.
If you remove it before it gets any worse and try a known good power supply with the system, if you are fortunate and the BESTEC power supply hasn’t already damaged the mboard, the system will work fine.

Failing power supplies often partially work, fans and hard drives may spin, leds may come on, yet you may get no video and the mboard will not boot all the way.
    See response 4 in this:
    http://www.computing.net/hardware/w…

If it is failing, you can usually replace it with any decent quality standard sized standard ATX PS with the same capacity or greater.

    Standard (PS/2) power supply size – 86mm high, 150mm wide, 140mm deep, or 3 3/8″ h x 5 7/8″ w x 5 1/2″ d , or very close to that, though the depth can be more or less for some PSs.

Don’t buy an el-cheapo (in quality) PS.
    See response 3 in this:
    https://computing.net/answers/ha…

I no longer recommend Cooler Master, AOpen, or Sparkle power supplies.
I’m now downgrading Thermaltake to middle of the road.
Antec has two lines of PSs – the better line has a longer warranty for the same or similar capacity – the other line is more towards middle of the road.
AMD has a list of Certified (tested and found to be good quality) PSs:
    http://support.amd.com/us/certified…
    ……..

If you HAVE been fiddling with your ram, or have been fiddling with connections inside the case, or if you have moved the computer case from one place to another and it may have been physically jolted, or in any case this can happen…..

….the ram may have a poor connection in the ram slots.

See response 2 in this – try cleaning the contacts on the ram modules, and making sure the modules are properly seated:
    http://www.computing.net/hardware/w…

If you have CHANGED which ram you have installed,

Ram that works in another mboard , or any ram you buy or have lying around, may not work properly, or sometimes, not at all – even if it physically fits and is the right overall type (e.g. SDram, DDR, DDR2, etc.; PCxxxx, xxx mhz) for your mboard. In the worst cases of incompatibility your mboard WILL NOT BOOT all the way with it installed, and the mboard may not even beep – the ram has to be compatible with the mboard’s main chipset, or in the case of recent mboards, compatible with the memory controller built into the cpu.

If you still have the ram that was installed when the system worked fine, try installing just that ram.
    …..

It is easy to test for incompatible ram that has caused your mboard to fail to boot.

Make sure you have a speaker or speakers or the equivalent connected to the mboard so you can hear mboard beeps (see your mboard manual if you need to).
Remove the AC power to the case/power supply.
    Remove all the ram.
    Restore AC power.
    Try to boot.
If nothing else is wrong, you will get no video but you will hear a pattern of beeps that indicate no ram is installed, or a ram problem.
E.g. for an Award bios or a bios based on one, that’s often a beep of about a half second, silence for a half second, a beep of about a half second, silence for a half second, continuously.
    …..

You MAY get that same error beep pattern when there is at least one ram module installed that is NOT 100% compatible with being installed your mboard.

Since I done use a cable to get to my homenetwork, I disabled the PCI ‘card’ through BIOS/CMOS setup. Afterward, when another spontaneous reboot occurred, the notice was “no boot device detected” or words to that effect. Anyway, I received a reply to my question on this site to check certain things. One of the recs was change the HDD. I have, and it’s been working fine for the last 2 days. I’m (only) a bit surprised at a HDD failure after less than 4 months in my posession. However, things happen. See less

If you can’t get back into the router’s management interface you will want to reset it to factory and then reconfigure it. Pay attention to the IP addressing though. Assuming you’re using 192.168.0.0/24 and already have one active router here’s what it should look like:

Main Router with Internet connection attached to it:
    WAN:
    as provided by your ISP

    LAN:
    IP: 192.168.0.1
    SM: 255.255.255.0

    DHCP enabled = Yes

    Secondary router:
    WAN:
    disabled

    LAN:
    IP: 192.168.0.2
    SM: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (ie: IP address of main router doing DHCP0

    DHCP enabled = No

Above you show 192.168.0.1 in your original post and I have to wonder if that isn’t conflicting with the LAN IP of your main router.

NOTE: You should also be able to disable IPv6 and probably should since you’re not likely to be using it internally on your LAN
