    After reading a little bit and make some electronics recall I started reparing my Olivetti PCS 286 PSU. The good news it: It’s done !!!
    Mine PSU explodes the fuse: It’s problem was located in the bridge rectifier (it was short circuited), the power transistor was also short circuited and also replaced the PSU driver (FD1) and also the optocopler: that one with a number 3 above it. One advise NEVER replace the fuse with a higher one or you will melt the board tracks. Please note that the primary transistor is a BU508AF (equivalent one)

    – all modern parallel port devices require that the mode of the onboard (built into the mboard) parallel port in the mboard’s bios be set to EPP, ECP, or EPP/ ECP mode in the bios . Usually EPP mode works fine. ECP mode requires that a spare dma channel be available – sometimes it isn’t.
    That is often set to Standard or Bi-directional or similar in the mboard’s bios by default – that will not work with modern devices.
    That setting is near where you can enable / disable the parallel port, or near where you can change it’s I/O address or IRQ or it’s LPTx number.

    (A PCI parallel port card is already set to use EPP, ECP, or EPP/ECP mode.)

    – many, if not all, modern parallel port connected devices require that you use a parallel cable rated to conform to IEEE1284 specs. That IEEE1284 should be on the cable or on the end connectors, otherwise the cable may not work properly with the device. If the cable is not marked, an unmarked cable MAY work okay – the fatter the cable, the more likely it will work, because part of the IEEE1284 spec requires a greater minimum wire gauge of the individual wires (lower numbered gauge = thicker wire).

    Windows numbers parallel ports – LPT ports – according to which I/O address and IRQ (Resources) it is using.
    The legacy setting is LPT1 is always assigned to one that uses IRQ 7 and I/O address 0378.
    In Windows 95 and up, you may not need IRQ 7, but the I/O address must be 0378 for LPT1.
    If you need that IRQ 7, it must not be being used by any other PNP device (usually it isn’t).
    When you change the I/O address in Device Manager for the LPT port to 0378, save settings, Windows will rename the parallel port to LPT1 if it isn’t already LPT1.

    Go to Device Manager.
    E.g. RIGHT click on My Computer – Properties – Hardware – Device Manager

    Open up the Ports listing, double click on the LPTx listing, choose the Resources tab.

    Use automatic settings
    to remove the checkmark.
    In the box beside
    Settings based on
    choose one of the configurations, other than Current Configuration, that has 0378 as an I/O address.
    E.g., on my computer, Basic 0000 is 0378, another I/O address is for ECP mode, IRQ is ?
    Many printers and many multifunction printer etc. devices don’t require you set an IRQ, but some other devices do.
    If your device requires IRQ 7, click on IRQ ? to highlight it, and choose IRQ 7, click on OK..

  5. the regular old 478 P4? If so thats why, you can't run 64 bit OS's on a 32 bit chip. thats why your drive isn't booting, can't run 64 bit code through a 32 bit only chip. Format the drive and install a 32 bit version of windows.

  7. Required components(cpu and heatsink, ram) .When u turn on the system do u hear fans spinning or beeps? Also remove all un-necessary component and leave only cpu+heatsink, a stick of ram, keyboard, v-card(if u don't have onboard video), psu and try to start the system.

    What is happening, is the final instruction from the program is throw to top of form.

    I do not know this printer, but generally you first position the (tractor feed?) paper, so the FIRST print starts in the correct position.

    Then before printing, on the printer,press the button to tell the printer it is at tof.
    Thereafter on completion of printing the form or forms it throws to this position, which hopefully raises enough the perforations high enough to tear off the form..

    I agree with that – it appears slot 2 and possibly slot 4 are bad, assuming you had the ram modules seated properly.

    Whether they were bad BEFORE you started fiddling with the ram is another matter. It’s extremely unlikely there was anything wrong with them when the mboard was new.

    Did you do what you were supposed to do and unplug the computer or otherwise disconnect the AC power AT ALL TIMES when you were fiddling with plugging in and unplugging the ram ?
    If NO, at any time, you may have damaged the ram slot circuits for both slot 2 and 4.
    You could also have damaged one or more module(s).
    Did you try ALL the modules in slot 1 and 3 ?

    When you use the Bio-star TA770 A2+ or Bio-star TA770 A2+ SE model to look up ram for your model on the Kingston site, they DO NOT list ANY 1066mhz modules.

    However I’ve seen previously that Kingston commonly does that when the mboard does support using 1066mhz modules.

    Kingston lists max 8gb for TA770 A2+, max 16gb for TA770 A2+ SE .

    For TA770 A2+ SE they say…
    “A BIOS update from Biostar may be required to support DDR2-1066 memory on this motherboard.
    DDR2-1066 is supported by AM2+ CPUs only.”

    We have gotten a lot of reports of certain 1066mhz modules not working properly on certain mboards.
    You should always use your mboard model to look up which 1066mhz modules work in your model for sure (are listed for your model), or consult the (tested) Memory module list for the model on the mboard maker’s web site, , or find some independent confirmation the modules will work properly in your mboard BEFORE you buy them.
    I found nothing on the Kingston web site that confirms your modules will work properly in your model !

    Examine the surface of your mboard.
    There is a Version (Ver. or V) number on it somewhere, printed on the mboard itself in obvious larger characters. It may be beside the model, or elsewhere on the mboard.
    What is it ?

    The Manual states to run the modules in dual channel mode, a matched pair (same size, identical) modules must be in slots 1 and 2 or 3 and 4.
    If slots 2 and 4 aren’t working properly, you can’t run any modules in dual channel mode.

    Most bioses adhere to JEDEC standards regarding the ram. When you use ram that doesn’t use the standard voltage, the bios usually accomodates to that fine, and in your case it would run all the ram at 2.2v if that voltage quote is correct.

    However, sometimes the bios makes mistakes regarding the settings for the ram whem the ram doesn’t adhere to the standard JEDEC standards like the ram you bought.
    Check the ram voltage setting in the bios – it should be 2.2v, or whatever the voltage is for the module, which is probably printed on a label on the module.
    If it’s different in the bios, if the voltage is too high or too low (outside of the acceptable voltage range for the modules), you must change the voltage in the bios to the voltage the module are specfied to use. E.g. if it’s set to 1.8v in the bios, the HyperX modules probably won’t work properly.

    However, I suspect the voltage IS set to 2.2 or close to that – if it were set to 1.8 it’s likely none of the modules would work in any slot.

    Also make sure the timing numbers in the bios for the ram are the same as printed on the label on the modules, or higher is ok. If any of the timing numbers in the bios are lower than the timing numbers at each position for the modules, you must change the timing numbers in the bios so that all the numbers are the same as, or higher than, the timing numbers specified for the modules, otherwise the ram will not work properly.

    In your case all the modules are the same.
    When you have a mix of modules that have different timing numbers specified for them, the bios is supposed to use the highest number at each position of all the modules installed.
    It’s NOT a good idea to install a mix of modules different voltages are specfied for – the bios will run all of them at the lowest voltage – the modules that were specified to use a higher voltage will probably not work properly.
