Looks like your harddrive may have a fault. Find out the drive manufacturer (should be easily accessed in the base of the laptop) and then download/run the manufacturer's diagnostic program.

For now I'd assume the 'unknown device' is the problem so it may be a driver issue. Device manager will also see card readers as USB devices so check that those work, if you have any. Check the HP support page for your model for any driver updates--USB or chipset updates in particular.

Lastly, in the BIOS, make sure that the floppy drive is specified correctly. If it is the wrong type, then the option needs to be changed to the correct setting. Be absolutely sure that the floppy drive is first in the boot sequence. Then try the boot floppy again. Most windows 95 setup disks do not automatically boot. some do but many require setup diskettes which is essentially a boot disk with a custom setup configuration to automatically run the files on the cd.

Can you view your sent box contents and check if the message(s), which produce the error message on screen, was (were) actually sent and if so to whom?
See if these link help at all. Use them to check what settings you may have enabled (whenever) and if they affect the messages involved or not.
You may have a setting for some messages as outlined in the above links; and may need to uncheck/disable that setting. The above links may help you see what is set and how to resolve the situation?
It may also be that the sender(s) have an option to send back to them a message saying that “you” have read their message to you. That used to be an option in Office/Outlook in the past but MS removed it. Possibly it’s back again in version 2016?
Perhaps check what options Outlook offers these days in terms of confirming receipt and read confirmations for messages sent/received.
