“All open and give me the error message that I don’t meet the minimum system requirements.”

Are you SURE that’s what the message says ?

You MAY get a message like that if you downloaded the WRONG drivers version.

If you use a proper download and do the steps the wrong way, you WILL get an error message that says various things, but one of them is not “doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements” or similar.

You can always do it this way, as I said in response 9 –

“Un-install the Dell video “drivers” in Add or Remove Programs, reboot, DO NOT load video drivers when “New Hardware” pops up, then run the installation download for the Intel video drivers.”

The correct Intel video drivers version is pointed to in response 9.

It is a VERY good idea to DISABLE the resident module(s) – the part that runs all the time looking for suspicious activity – of all anti-malware software you have running on the computer, BEFORE you un-install and install video “drivers”, because sometimes it (they) interferes with the software installing properly.
After you have installed the video drivers, you can enable it (them) again.

If you don’t know how to do that, tell us which anti-malware software you have installed.

Do you have a physical hard drive connected to the Primary Slave connection ?

If the answer is NO, then the message is NORMAL for some bios versions when you have the setting Pri Slave = AUTO in the bios.
If you don’t want to see that message, set Pri Slave = NONE or similar in the bios.

If the answer is yes, you DO have a physical hard drive connected to the Primary Slave connection, there is probably something wrong with the data cable connection of the drive,or you may not have the power connector plugged into the drive, or if it’s an IDE drive you may have a jumper on the back of the drive set wrong .

It is common to un-intentionally damage IDE data cables, especially while removing them – the 80 wire ones are more likely to be damaged. What usually happens is the cable is ripped at either edge and the wires there are either damaged or severed, often right at a connector or under it’s cable clamp there, where it’s hard to see – if a wire is severed but it’s ends are touching, the connection is intermittent, rather than being reliable.
Another common thing is for the data cable to be separated from the connector contacts a bit after you have removed a cable – there should be no gap between the data cable and the connector – if there is press the cable against the connector to eliminate the gap.
80 wire data cables are also easily damaged at either edge if the cable is sharply creased at a fold in the cable.

Try another data cable if in doubt.

80 wire data cables must have the proper end connector connected to the mboard IDE header – usually that’s blue, but in any case it’s the one farther from the middle connector on a 3 connector data cable.

Check your SATA data cables. The connector on each end should “latch” into the socket on the drive and on the mboard, or on the drive controller card – it should not move when you merely brush your hand against it near the socket – if it does, mere vibration can cause a poor connection of it – use another SATA data cable that does “latch”, or tape the connector in place.
(There is a slight projection or bump on one side of the outside of the connector that “latches” it into the socket – it’s easily broken off or damaged)

The same thing applies for the SATA power connection.

I decided to go out on a limb and get a paper towel and clean off the little plastic nubbin that’s inside the printer (the part that sticks into the cartridge, sticking out from where you place the ink) and it printed completely perfectly after that. Phil22 I beg to differ… the image that Macrium makes will show only one backup file where ever it is being saved to. Provide both partitions are checked when starting the backup both will be included in the single backup file. If you use the menu to “mount” the backup image both drives will be shown.

The OP is confused because in all likelihood the Reserve partition is not shown on his desktop along with his C\ drive and any other partitions or drives he may have because it is “hidden”. For some unknown reason when I installed Win 7 the installation chose to make the drive visible and allocated “H” as the drive letter.

When he uses Macrium for his backup Macrium sees the drive and provides a box to place the check mark along with the C partition, both boxes must be checked in order for the backup to be successful. Trust me I have done this many times and all my backup restorations have been successful.

minuan you say that no file is appearing on your external drive! My backup files are shown like this: D685F8AC848D895D-00-00.mrimg. I leave Macrium to allocate the image name… do you have any files like this on your backup drive? If I “mount” this file it will show both drives because both are included in the one backup.

It appears from your second posting that you may have selected only the Reserved partition for backup. This serves to show that double posting on a single issue only serves to confuse… stick to this posting.

There is an excellent tutorial here: http://www.macrium.com/webtutorial/…

You ask how you can see the contents of the image, under the “Restore” drop down menu there is an entry “Explore Image” click on it and follow the prompts. The process is dead easy! If you have further questions fire away here or PM me.

Sorry for the absence in this thread. I’ve been following it but too busy to do anything with the suggestions.

As it turned out a co-worker tried something simple and it seems to have worked. They refresh our machines every weekend and the change we tried seems to have held after this weekend’s refresh. It’s hard to believe that was this easy:

    Start
    Devices and Printers
    Right Click the Printer name
    Choose Printing Preferences
Uncheck the Print in Grayscale box

That is the same box that we were essentially told would need to be unchecked every time when trying to print individual documents in color. e.g. File…Print…Printer Properties…Color Tab…Uncheck the Print in Grayscale box. Apparently if it is done through the Start menu, as opposed to through the individual app, it hold across all apps and even after a reboot/corporate refresh.

Shhhhh…don’t tell them that we found that setting.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
