You shouldn’t have a “pinky color” at all at any time.

    It’s likely that
    – you have wear caused damaged wiring between the video adapter and the display
    – and/or your backlight is in the beggining stages of failing
    – and/or the display assembly in the lid is damaged – if the symptoms change when you merely flex the lid

DO NOT plug in or unplug a monitor’s video cable into / from a video port while the computer is running. Doing so can damage the monitor’s circuits and/or the video adapter’s circuits.

Some laptops will display on an external monitor without you having to do anything.

If you get no video on an external monitor, some laptops have a key combo that you must press to toggle the display to external video only / built in display video only / sometimes both – see the Owner’s or User’s manual for the model.

I have a Samsung 27 ins screen with built in speakers, and use a Logitech webcam plugged into a Mac USB port. MacBooks are short on USB ports so add a powered USB hub if you need more ports. I have a D-link 6 port powered hub which is excellent.

    Hosts File

Myth – “Special AntiSpyware Hosts Files are necessary to prevent Spyware infections.”
Reality – “Using Special AntiSpyware Hosts Files are a waste of time and leads to a false sense of security. Any Malware/Spyware can easily modify the Hosts File at will, even if it is set to Read-only. It is impossible to “lock-down” a Hosts File unless you are running as a limited user which makes using it in this case irrelevant anyway.

I rename Hosts file & use SpywareBlaster.
Do a search for the hosts file ( In Windows\system32\drivers\etc ) & rename to > hosts.txt or hostsold.
If you want to use it again, change it back to what it was.
