  2. The only update(s) you should try would be on the support page for that Dell model. Anything else would likely not install or would wreck the laptop if you got it installed. You may want to contact Dell and tell them you think that particular bios upgrade is bad.

OK then it looks like we have a misunderstanding. What that meant was “excuse MY silly question”. Looks like it was a language thing.

You said you had this feature before you re-installed Windows. I am on Windows 8.1 and have never had this facility in Windows explorer, either now or when it was just Windows 8.

Please confirm that you do mean “Windows Explorer” and not the large blocks on the new style start menu. The start menu is the only place I’ve seen video movement.

Just to make sure we are using the same terminology:-
    This is Windows Explorer:

The thermal compound aids the thermal heat transfer between the CPU and the heat sink to remove as much heat as possible.
Thermal compound must be in a very thin layer to work best so often when the heat sink is removed, it does not look like much. As mentioned, look up the proper method and reinstall it correctly. Under normal use, there is little difference between a base brand and something expensive that is supposed to be a ‘super’ compound as long as it is applied correctly.
I do not recommend using the machine without the thermal compound properly reapplied, but in theory, as long as the temperature is within the CPU’s normal range, it should be safe and a heating CPU will throttle back or shut down if it gets hot enough. Consider also that you are overworking your fan and that probably will shorten it’s life as well.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I just dug out the manual for an old Citizen GSX.145 wide carraige dot matrix printer. Been years since I used it for anything but had recalled something about emulation. The 145 has built in emulation for Epson LQ and some IBM printers.

I suggest you consult the manual, if you have one to see if the GSX-190 has similar settings.

Dot matrix printers are still widely in use to print multi-copy forms in the business world. Your printer may be able to emulate a more popular Panasonic, Epson LQ series or an IBM. One that does have a Windows 7 driver available.

Below is a link to what appears to be a digital copy of your manual, if you don’t have one. Again, I can’t vouch for the site or know if there is a fee involved.
