Please note: I have posted this in the Windows XP section because of the huge installed user base; however, these instructions will work for all Microsoft Windows operating systems running Internet Explorer 6.
Google Instant Search usually crashes Internet Explorer 6 in Windows 98 NT ME 2000 and XP.
Here is the workaround:
Step 1. Open IE and go to http://google.com In the upper right hand corner click Settings > Search Settings. If you have Javascript disabled then just go to http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en
Step 2. Scroll down to the section “Autocomplete” and select “Do not provide query predictions in the search box.”
Step 3. Then click the save button at the bottom of the page. You are done! When Google searching you will no longer receive a crash.
