is there a shell extension that will open the shortcut target folder, while at the same time selecting the target file? I found some extensions that open the target folder, but they don’t select the target file, so that it’s difficult to find it, if the target folder is for example windows or windowssystem32, which contain very many files

Seems to work for me….
Right click a shortcut and choose properties. In the box that pops up, click the “Find Target Button” This should highlight the target file.
If you are a keyboard person, highlight the shortcut then hit Alt+Enter, Alt+F
Post back if this didn’t help
