Solved IE Cannot Display The Webpage, Etc.

  • 8

I have never used Craigslist, so thought I’d try it. I can get to the ads ok and some of the other sections, but quite a few sections don’t work. The message, “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage” comes up when I click the “My Account” button, or the Post button. The same message comes up when Help Desk Forum, Contact Us, and all sections of the Account Creation page.

A new message came up tonight. After trying several times to to get to one section, the message that came up was, “We were unable to return you to Craigslist.org. Internet Explorer has stopped trying to restore this website. It appears that the website continues to have a problem.”

When I clicked the “More Info” button I got, “When a website causes a failure or crash, Internet Explorer attempts to restore the site. It stops after two tries to avoid an endless loop.”

I spoke with a friend who uses Craigslist and he said he has no problems. He didn’t know which browser he is using.

Does this sound like a browser problem? I’m using IE 8. Also, have Windows XP Pro (SP3).

I can’t get to “Contact Us”, so can anyone tell me if there’s an email address I can use to contact Craigslist?

Thanks

Most likely that’s the problem. IE8 is no longer being supported by many websites (or Microsoft). In fact, Microsoft has ended support for IE8, IE9, & IE10…IE11 is the only IE version that’s being supported from now on.

So if you’re going to stick with XP, you’ll have to switch to an alternate browser…Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. I’ve recently switched to SRWare Iron which is based on Chrome but is supposedly more secure & “optimized for privacy”.
