Yesterday my computer had a major crasch and I couldnt get it to
start as it couldnt find my keyboard. Ive been using the W7 version
but I was gonna formate it to XP again due to the problem. So I HAD
TO use the “repair” choice as I couldnt select the other as my
keyboard wasnt responding at all..
Everytime it failed to repair the problem and I couldnt enter BIOS as
it didnt detect my keyboard at all. However, while I was in advanced
mode after repair failed, it worked which was way odd. I tried the
repair about 30 times with failure at the end everytime.
I tried system restore using 3 different points at least a dussin
time each with no success at all.
So in the end I had to use CMD and I got it to format. Once it was
done I restarted, but I still had the same “Keyboard not detected”
and then I got “BootMGR is missing”
“Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart”.
I dont know what could be wrong as the keyboard worked after I got
into the repair mode and in cmd.
But not in the startup to get into bios. I’ve tried with both PS2
Keyboard and USB and USB through PS2 switch, with and without my
mouse, nothing works.
What could be wrong? Could it be
the mothercard or the Hard Drive?
What should I do to get this fixed?
Please help me out
Thank you.
“BootMGR is missing”
“Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart”.
it was supposed to be a simple reinstallation of the OS but it turrned out very bad. The computer (belongs to a friend of mine) had win XP on it, plus it had over a ton of virus and bad registery entries so i started to do a fresh installation. My friend said he’d like win 7 on it so i used a copy on his, booted from the cd. I reached the advanced option to select the drives to install the OS. I formatted successfully and then installation started. About 2 mins into installation i got an error stating cannot read drivers from source. I thought that maybe my CD was scratched bt got same problem with a clean copy. I then tried to install with XP SP3 but the disc was not beng detected. ( It kept saying OS cd not detected insert correct cd and press enter) i tried Vista installation, it got detected and then when i got to advanced option screen…..there were no Harddrives or media sources!!!!!) I checked it out online and the told me to try formatting the drive ( i took it out and connected it to another computer and tried formatting there, it took about 15 mins formatting and then told me formatting was uncessfull. I tried it in disc management and i was told formatting cannot be completed!. when i checked back the status in My Computer, the harddrive had no space allocatons! (the harddrive is partitioned into 2) and both had zero space available. So i was ready to declare the drive crashed…but comes a surprise…..i tried it back a couple hours later and believe it or not both partions were able to be formatted!!!) Anyways i connected it back to the computer i was fixing, tried loading an OS installation…and now i get the message ……..
“BootMGR is missing”
“Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart”. !!!
