So, I’m trying to copy a couple hundred gigs between two NASes. I started copying just using the built in Windows copy function. It was going to take over 24 hours to copy the files. I searched the web and found many recommendations for Teracopy. Well, I’m using Teracopy to copy those same files. Right now Teracopy is estimating somewhere between 80 and 280 days to copy these files. Is there something I can do to fine tune it somewhat so it doesn’t take almost a year to copy these files?

I use Tera copy, but the time remaining is an “estimate” so often while copying if larger files are encountered, the estimate will go way up, and then likely come down when processing smaller files. The number if you watch it is apt to jump around as the copying continues.
Also one of the things Tera copy does is verify the files copied, it will create a list when it finishes the copy and post any files that it was unable to copy for one reason or another, which is nice.
Make sure that the computer and both NAS’ are connected directly to the same switch, it is a Gigabyte switch and you are using Cat5e or better, Cat6 cables to optimize the transfer speeds (full duplex switch, not a hub). Even if you router is slower, connecting the faster switch to the router and connecting all through the same switch will mean that all internal network traffic will be at the faster speed and only WAN (outside connections) will be limited to the slower speeds.
You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
