i had installed the cs source from torrent and got the zipped folders extracted.then when i click launcher application message pops up saying the hl2 demo is unable to run mods.plz help;….

You can download the demo for Half Life 2 from reputable sites. A lot of torrents are illegal and full of nasty stuff. Even if you could install it, chances are you couldn’t play it on a laptop anyhow. You didn’t post any system specs, but most laptop are not built for games.
