Hi
Trying to configure a GPO to make a file type mp3 and others to open in VLC player instead of the default windows media player.
If I create a GPO to update folder option in Computer Configuration to associate mp3 to VLC media file (.mp3) nothing happens and GPO results shows its the winning GPO
But If I do the change to USer configuration and and associated program file path %programfiles%\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe (set as default) it will startup in VLC when I double click the file .
Problem is the “Type” has changed to “vlc.exe” in the file browser instead of “MP3 format Sound” or VLC media file (.mp3) which we can’t upload to websites since it thinks its a .exe. file but command prompt still shows it as a .mp3.
Any ideas, we are using Windows 2008 R2 server with windows 7/8 clients.
