Hello! (Apologies in advance if my wording suffers from the immense stress)
I got a brand new ASUS laptop in August 2020 – the TUF Gaming A15 FA506I, but despite the good resources, it has already frozen a couple times while working on it. And now this time, it freezes with a ton of open work – including a plethora of unsaved screenshots & images.
The laptop has been fully updated, and the PC is not placed in a heated environment. It doesn’t feel hot either.
I have just figured whether a setting like ‘enable hardware acceleration’ could be an issue, but I dunno if that applies to other browsers than Firefox.
I was running Pathfinder, Microsoft Edge, OpenOffice Writer, Opera, Notepad and Steam, Paint windows (not the best, I know, but still).
Many articles state that ‘Paint now automatically recovers’ unsaved work – but this only occurs at system restarts for Windows updates. And even then, it’s only auto-recovering SOME of the open Paint windows. And that 1-2 other time (last month), I didn’t have this many windows open at all.
So, why does such a new laptop freeze, despite no apparant temperature overheat, overclocking or personal altering of the BIOS?
But first of, let me ask if there’s any way to restore these Paint windows – or make Windows auto-recover them? Last time I tried force-restarting it myself, with no luck. I’m belaying any action for now in case of hints.
If you’re “smart” about threats, then yes…but it depends on who you ask:

“Never had such an issue with Avast on previous Win10 laptops though”
The general rule (at least at one time) is to leave only one anti-virus program “live”. If you still have issues, then I’d suspect you’ve got some sort of hardware-related issue going on. Again, with only 2 months on the clock, I’d be seriously considering returning it…
Personally, I run Avast on Win7 64-bit (had Win10, really, really didn’t like it — reverted back to Win7). I also occasionally get a freeze on the SSD, though it’s not enough for me to ditch Avast, since fewer and fewer are supporting Win7
