I thought it was pretty much self explanatory and required only stripping the executable’s name from the urls given way above for the two ‘installers’. But here goes anyway.
Depending on what you want to download, make these lines equal to the “DownloadLocation=” entry in YOUR iebatch.txt file and put that text file in the same folder as the downloaded iesetup.exe file before you double click on it to begin downloading the rest of the cab files for that version.
If you need to do this manually you can just sub in the required cab file name(s) and download it using a download manager or ie itself, but IE doesn’t resume broken downloads and I find that on dialup, I need that ability. VGX.CAB file will be exactly 1,005,192 bytes and appear as 982K bytes in size, any other size and you don’t have the final version. I’ve checked and your site IS hosting the final version and meets with my approval, good find there. I always had big trouble trying to use ie6sites.dat files or url’s pointing to them too.
I do have an ie6sites.dat file saved for my url, it’s just a text file consisting of alternate languages for IE and their download locations, an entry for the Brazilian Portuguese url follows.
I would fully expect to find all the Brazilian cab files including the installer executable under that url and the same for all the RU, FR and other languages IE was made in. 24 lines total for 24 different languages. And that is all there is in the file, so why they kick me to the curb every time I try to use one or specify one, I have no clue. But after a while, I don’t want to play anymore.
