1. Yeah, at best your registry is FUBAR. If you have an actual WinXP disk, a repair install would be your best bet at this point. Outside of that, you could try System Restore, or just a normal reinstall if all you have is what came with your computer. How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

    Go into Device Manager, and see if you have any errors/warnings listed. If not, expand Universal Serial Buss controllers, and delete everything listed there. Be warned that at some point in this procedure, you’ll probably lose your mouse and keyboard. If / when that happens, tap the power button to cleanly shutdown the laptop. Reboot, and Windows should reinstall everything.
