Sometimes this procedure can get you out of loops: Turn off computer and unplug from domestic power. Remove main battery if it’s a laptop. Hold Power Off/On button for at least 20 seconds to discharge the motherboard components. Put back together and see if it helps.

BTW, if you can find some cheap RAM, I suggest you upgrade to at least 1GB. If your board supports more than 1GB & you can find it cheap ehough, 2-3GB would be optimal.
