McAfee Internet Security is well-known to slow down computer systems, especially if the amount of RAM your PC has is bordering on the "just enough" level (less than 4GB).I would uninstall it and use something else and see if browsing the web is any better.

Very good idea. I always try to remember to disable whatever resident module of anti-malware software I have running before installing software myself and I rarely have problems installing software when I do that. It’s also very important to do that when Windows SP2 or SP3 updates are being installed in XP.
You should never install new drivers overtop if you can un-install the previous ones first then install the new ones.

Mmm… never been involved with this type of kit… I’m not sure there is an easy way to this… Other than to carefully open the speaker housing and connect a pair of short cables to the actual speaker terminals; anchor those cables securely within or just outside/to the case… Run decent quality cables to output terminals on amp? Use decent connectors too – not cheapies.
There also stand-alone wifi transmitter/receiver kits on the web; Amazon has one for about $150. Connect tx unit to amp. Connect rx unit to cable attached to speaker terminals. Then you still have wireless system – using the lg for other speakers, and the additional wifi tx/rx for sub woofer?
Incidentally simply referring to your problem kit as a “sub” is not too helpful; not everyone will read into your post and maybe help? Usually to describe/name it properly?

I too would recommend a cleaner as the first step. The ‘ghetto’ method of repeated moving of the slide does work at times but may require repeating every couple of months or so. A tip for replacing moderately sizable components is to get a desoldering bulb or wick to help with removing most of the solder so you do not have to use excess heat trying to melt it all at the same time. Make sure you allow it to cool well before fitting new one and soldering. IF you have any trouble with the solder flowing properly on resoldering, you may use a tiny bit of ‘Safe Flux’ to help the solder properly flow onto the surfaces. Safe or not, you will need to clean the excess flux off first with damp Q-Tips then with rubbing alcohol. AND use a small tip iron made for electronics.
You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
