“As far as old 3.5″ drive misalignment, it is still reading all my old 3.5″ disks.”
The read head is the same as the write head so that is why it can still read the disks it’s writing, even though the track is slightly offset.

    1. yes, mailing the files would be an easy way.

    2. The problem is not how old the floppies are, the problem is the heads from your old drive are out of alignment and not matching up with the heads in the new drive. This won’t work. You are still writing to the floppies using your old drive, it doesn’t matter if the floppies are new or old.

    3. Yes, you can transfer data over a serial cable.

    4. It’s not the problem with the computer, it’s the fact that the heads are misaligned. Installing a new drive in an old computer isn’t going to work. If your new USB drive can’t read the floppy, then another new drive isn’t going to able to read them either.

If I may also offer a bit of advice, floppy disks are very unreliable as you are experiencing, and they are a dying format. You should not continue writing your valuable data to new ones. Once you retrieve the data, I would highly suggest storing in on your hard drive as well as making a backup copy on CD or DVD.

In my experience, 99% of the stability/crashing problems that are encountered with today’s internet on old browsers are due to the old browsers choking on Java Script. The 16-bit versions of AOL do not contain JavaScript in the integrated browser, and so do not suffer any crashes.

Try it sometime. Open a web page in IE 4.x or 5.x with JS enabled. I guarantee it will crash. Then close the browser, change the settings to disable JS, and then relaunch IE. Sure, a small set of features won’t work properly without having JS enabled, but it never prevented me from being able to casually browse the web.

This is the same case with Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 with IE 3.0/4.0/5.x.

I have posted the archived version of the instructions in case the original page or server should ever go down.

Here are the instructions for Netscape 3.x (no archived versions available due to ROBOTS.TXT however, I’ve copied and pasted to my server, with reference credit to the original source):

If this is a member server unjoin it from the domain to a work group, delete the machine account from AD and then add it back again to the domain.

Let’s see if that will re-establish the domain communication.

I would also request you post a ipconfig /all from the server for review.

Keep in mind that you cannot actually control how an email is received, no matter how much time you spend formatting it on the sending end.

You may send it it Outlook, but it might be received in Thunderbird, HotMail, Yahoo, etc. It might even be viewed on an Android phone, or an iPad. Each of those clients might read the embedded formatting code differently and display it the way it thinks it should be. You might even see differences in appearance between 2 Outlook clients.

If you absolutely must have it viewed exactly as you are sending it, considered creating a PDF document and send it as an attachment.
