Reaching OC 4.0 with an E8400 would be in the realm of Extreme Overclocking and even an advanced watercooling system might not be enough to keep the temperatures reasonable with the voltages you would need (vcore and chipset overvolting) and definitely not on a G41 MB since it only supports FSB1333 (freq.333) not even FSB1600 (freq.400) , especially with a multiplier locked down to a maximum of 9 (333×9=2997 or 2.997 or 3.0). To even attempt anything that extreme you would need a motherboard with a P45 chipset and it would not be suitable for daily usage. You would need a 2nd generation sandy bridge K series and appropriate board to run those speeds for daily usage (with an aftermarket air cooler). Please note that 3.4GHz is already a good OC for an E8400, especially considering you are using automatic settings.

As far I know, the temporary file is supposed to be deleted when you close the original file, although I’ve seen this sort of thing happen before. Hopefully, you have a backup copy of your file. If not and the original file is corrupted, you may be out of luck.
You might try moving the file without the ~$ to another directory and see if it opens there. Good luck.
