The intranet should work without the gateway IP on that interface because a gateway address is only necessary when crossing a LAN boundary. You have something misconfigured or this wouldn’t be happening. So, at this point we’ll need to see the configuration of both interfaces.

Open a command prompt window (ie: Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and perform the following command:

    ipconfig /all

Once you’ve finished, copy/paste the output into a response on here so we can have a look.

For info on how to copy/paste from a command prompt window click on my name above and read my “how-to” guide titled, “Post the output of ipconfig (version 2)

    Hi KajH,

the first cure for this error I found, described the HP engineer removing and then reseating the memory which cured the fault.

If you do this, the pc must be OFF and remember the importance of earthing yourself as static electricity is a killer of electronic components!

I always look for the simple answer first, and more often than not it is the cure.

As a matter of interest, where are you based? I am in Hammersmith, West London.

Good Luck – Keep us posted.

Vista tells me that everything is capable of running it except
the graphics memory which needs to be at least 128mb.

The laptop is the 5738Z and has
an Intel Pentium Dual Core mobile processor T4200
    3gb of RAM
250gb internal harddrive but I have about 4 more 250gb hard
    drives
The graphics card is the annoying intel gma 4500m (annoying
cause its capable but wont let me increase the damn
    memory)
