Solved Usb Hard Drive Attached To a Sonicwall Firewall

I am wondering about a Sonicwall firewall device.
We have a TZ215 and I want to attach a USB 3TB hard drive to the Sonicwall and set it up so that our End User can back up their PC to the hard drive.

Each user would be given a share on the usb hard drive and would also be given instructions on how to back up their computer.

When I plug the USB hard drive into the Sonicwall device and login to the Sonicwall, I do not see the USB hard drive anywhere.

I do not know what I am doing wrong.

Is this even possible to connect a USB external hard drive into the Sonicwall and map each end user to it and create a share for them to back up their pc to??

      The SonicWall unit should already have a hard drive inside it for access over a network. Use that for each of your end-users. The USB port on the SonicWall is not for attaching an external hard drive, it’s for a backup wireless device such as a 3G dongle as supplied by cellphone network providers, in case your regular broadband service is down.

      SonicWall is not detecting your hard drive because it’s not a valid device.
