Solved Cannot Access BIOS On Toshiba Tecra P11 Laptop On Windows 10

  • 1

Searched online, and have tried all of the usual Esc, F2, F12 and Ins combinations suggested. I do not have a Toshiba Hardware utility on this particular laptop, as has been suggested I can access the BIOS through. Computer seems to always boot straight into Win 10 startup screen, without displaying Toshiba logo as suggested should happen, even after having been shut down using power option in Start menu, so I am positive it is not simply going to sleep. Only way I can seem to boot from CD is to physically remove the SSD, which obviously is not a sustainable solution. Has been recently upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Windows 10. Machine is infrequently used, so unsure if upgrade has directly affected this. I am planning on using this as a Linux machine for a few tasks, but as it belongs to the boss, I need to be able to easily return it to original state, preferably by running off a live CD. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  1. The manual for that model:

    http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/file/do…

    says:

    ■To start BIOS Setup;
    1. Turn on the computer while pressing the F2 key.
    2. Release the F2 key when the TOSHIBA Leading Innovation
    >>> screen appears.
    ■ To end the BIOS Setup;
    1. Press F10, and then press Y to accept the changes
    The computer will restart.

    If that doesn’t work, are you using, or have you tried using, an external keyboard?
