Comment: Hello, What I want to know is if you can use the folder share and security options (Advances sharing option) to set permissions (access, no access, read, write, etc) for users and or groups on a different computer on a WORKGROUP network. Any help, Thanks.

Reply: (edit)Access will be denied unless the user has a local account or logs in with one of the existing local accounts. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Dose mean that if i have all the same acc--ts (same name) on all the PCs what ever restrictions are set for the local computer the same will happen for the same account name on the other PCs. If so would the same happen with user groups.

Reply: (edit)Keep in mind. You can have up to 10 logins, but they must be separate. For instance. You have 2 PC's. PC1 has user 'user1' and PC2 has user 'user2'. You need to create the same account on each box, so both boxes have 'user1' and 'user2'. then you can go ahead and login. You can assign the user to whatever group is necessary, but 'Users' is the most common. Permissions can be 'default', or when you setup the share click on 'Permissions' and adjust accordingly. Reply: (edit)Yes, so if i have the smae account names and passwords on both PCs what ever permisions seton one (ie: User account one 'READ ONlY', User account two @FULL CONTROL' this will affect both pcs the same. Also would the same thing work with groups (IE: on the PC with the files on the share permision is Group one 'Full control, Group two ' Read Only' and GRoup 3 'No Access' would the same restrictions happen on the other computers (if they had the same group name' Or is there away to add the user on a diffrent computer to the permision (ie if this is pc1 on the folder permisions can i add the user \\PC2\User name).
