Comment: I have a LTWINMODEM (Itmsg.exe9) entry in my msconfig. I am on a cable connection with an external USB cable modem. If I uncheck the winmodem in msconfig, seems like it affects the Lexmark printer working properly. The printer supposably is using LPT1. Do I need the winmodem and is it just a coincidence that the printer cannot communicate when winmodem is unchecked? I saw on some of the start-up lists that one can uncheck it thus the reason I tried. Thanks

Reply: (edit)hello if your not useing the modem i take it its a pci card try removeing the card from the computer .and see if it afects the printer any more.it should not even be listed in the computer any where after reboot. you may want to uninstall your printer from computer, and start settings, printers reboot, shut computer back off, hook printer back up,reboot, goto start ,settings, printers and reinstall printer. this should clear any old driver shared port issues up.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the input. I am under the impression that a win modem is a type of software integrated type program incorporated into the hard drive. I did uninstall the printer software, unplugged, booted, installed, etc. but still same issue and I was wondering if anyone had any past experience with winmodems and printer conflicts.
