Hi there, i have the dredded System Alert popup in the system try on my laptop. I have followed the advice on previous posts in this forum and have downloaded the required programs (HJT etc). I guess i need someone to have a look at the HJT log to help me out. I am not that computer savvy (although savvy enough to get this damn thing!!), so your help would be most appreciated, since it seems you guys are the only ones who actually reply!

Thanks in advance and i hope you can help..

Regards,
Rich.

Download & Install ATF Cleaner and Super AntiSpyware
Boot to safe mode(F8 while booting up) and run the ATF Cleaner then the Super Anti-spyware and your Anti-virus
Then boot back to normal mode. And you will be all set

It depends how you view your security.

There may well be remnants, or orphaned files remaining on your computer that you could remove with HiJackThis - or even by simply locating them and deleting manually. However, unless these files are "active" (which they now shouldn't be), then I really see nothing really to worry about.

I found a very simply way to kill this pest!

McAfee couldn't delete it because it was running when the anti-virus detected it.

I moved the offending file to my desktop (geplxxs.dll) and rebooted my computer.

Just as soon as the desktop came on and programs where starting up, I deleted it before it could start running and problem is gone!!! Yeah!
