I have a huge problem. I tried to install new drivers for my NVidia geforce 2 mx, and upon installing them it asked me to uninstall the old ones, and then install the new ones. so I uninstall the drivers, and have to restart to complete the uninstallation. Upon the restart the screen freezes on the windows xp startup logo, but appears to continue to run in the background, just not onscreen. This occurs over and over. I have gone into safe mode, where it says the old nvidia drivers are still installed. So I switched to the internal graphics card that came with my dell, and uninstalled the drivers. I then installed the new drivers, from nvidia, and then from creative (the card maker), neither of which worked...same exact problem as before. I then completely reinstalled windows xp pro, but the exact same problem happened when it restarted. I tried reinstalling brand new downloaded drivers, and still the same problem, using the nvidia card. What can I do? I have tried absolutely everything. also, I cant check the event log because there is no "performance and maintenance" icon in my control panel. I cant figure out what the problem could be since I had the exact same problem after completely reinstalling XP. Pleeease please help me!!!!

When you said you installed a fresh copy of XP Pro, did you format the harddrive? I'm assuming you did since you know what you're talking about. Go into BIOS and disable your onboard video card first. This way, you're only isolating the computer to use the only video input/output device (the connector on your video card). Delete the partition, create a new partition, then format it. This should clean out the entire harddrive. Install XP Pro all over again. When it asks you to install video drivers in the beginning, just ignore it. Go to your Nvidia website and download that new updated version of the driver and install it instead of using your original driver CD that game with the graphics card. Doing this way should prevent the computer from installing 2 video drivers as with what you did before where the new version is trying to cover the old version. There might be duplicate versions, causing conflict. Good Luck!
