Does anyone see this message below when trying to make a test print page?
Test page failed to print. Would you like to....
...view the print troubleshooter for assistance?

The printer is Xerox WorkCentre 128PS network TCP/IP, other workstations print OK, just this PC having this message. No matter how hard to try, like remove driver, reinstall driver, remove TCP/IP port & recreate it... no luck...
anyone has idea?

I ran into a problem like that and it turned out to be a user permission problem.

How is the printer connected to the network? Is it by TCP/IP or a USB or parallel port on a machine? If it's a machine, is it a server or a workstation?

okay... guys I finally confirmed where the issue is, the PC is just updated XP-SP3 while other PCs are still SP2, so I believe SP3 cause the problem. Anyone knows Microsoft awared the issue, where I should report to Microsoft?

Good luck with that. The problem is probably with the drivers. You might check the printer website for an updated driver.

Could still be permissions too. They may have been changed during the upgrade to SP3.

Just to let you know I'm experiencing the same and have fired of a request to MS

"I have two PCs, each running WinXP Home. One PC ('PC1') has a printer on its parallel port and the other PC ('PC2') prints to this printer via PC1. Since SP3 was installed on PC2, I cannot print from PC2 - prints do not get spooled to PC1's spool Q.

PC1 (with the printer) is still on SP2 Win XP Home
PC2 (no printer) is on SP3 Win XP Home

If I try to print a document from PC2 I get no error messages and the document does not print.
If I try to print a document from PC1 it prints normally.
If I try a test print from PC2 via the printer setup properties it says 'test failed to print. Would you like to try the print troubleshooter. If I then click yes, it is no help whatsoever.

Both PCs are Dell Dimension PCs Circa 2-3 years old.
The Printer is a Dell Photo 964 Circa 1 year old.
PC1 has no firewall as it is just used for a printer spooler.
PC2 has Trend Pc-Cillin as its antivirus. Windows firewall is off. If I switch Trend's firewall off it still fails to print

The problem is solid, occurring every time, even after a reboot of all PCs and the printer.

Apart from a Cisco Router out to the Internet, this is the complete Network.

Hope that this information helps. Someone else also seems to be experiencing the same issue

OK,

Had a reply from MS. In short, delete the printer from each PC and re-install making sure that sharing is enabled.

This worked for me. Could be a bit tedious if you have a lot of PCs attached to a shared printer, though...

If anyone wants the full reply from MS, just PM me your email address
