Quite often the size of text shrinks when I am in Microsoft Word, this also occurs
when using Internet Explorer. Resetting to
normal in Word only lasts until I come
to use it again.

I don't think the font size in Word and the text size in IE are related.

How are you changing the text size in Word and does this occur when opening an existing document?

When using Word there are two things controlling text size. First if you are creating a document, the font and font size are determined by the default setting or your override. If the default font and size are different than what you wish to use you need to reset the default font.

Any Word document previously created that is opened in Word will display the font and font size used when the document was created.

As far as IE is concerned you have little control over font size or type when viewing web pages. You can set the text size to larger or smaller but that is a relative setting.
