Comment:

My sound on my laptop suddenly stopped working. The "sound and audio device properties" in control panel says I don't have an audio device, though it worked only a few hours ago.

What do I need to do to fix this

thanks

you need to reinstall the drivers to it.

Try this:
start > control panel > system > properties tab > hardware tab > device manager and scroll down to the sound and audio line which probably has a big yellow ! besifde it.

highlight the sound card and double clk to openits properties box. Under drivers select to roll back the driver and follow the prompts.

If that doesn't work then go to

http://support.dell.com/support/dow...

That site is for the D820...if that is not your computer then look to pick another model

look for the audio driver and download it and install it
