Comment: Hi, I am just trying to learn some things about servers, so please excuse the ignorance! The server is used for a small company that has it's own xyz.com domain. I am concerned primarily with the emails sent/recd. by users (employees) in this domain. Where would the email files be recorded for all the users? Also, where would all the outlook express emails be recorded on the server? Also, being in the administrator mode, where/how can I access these for all the users? thanks again!

Reply: (edit)You need to provide more details about the setup. Does the server indeed "serve" as a mail server? If the users are running Outlook Express, then you're not running Exchange, so what mail server are you running? Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)So, if the users are running MS Outlook exchange, only then is it acting as an email server? How can I tell if the server is being used as an email server?

Reply: (edit)"So, if the users are running MS Outlook exchange, only then is it acting as an email server". No. That's not what I said. IF you were running an Exchange Server, then users would be using Outlook as the email client. Since you said the users are using OE, then you don't have an Exchange Server. Don't you know what kind of email server you're running? If you are indeed running some kind of email server, who set it up? Life's more painless for the brainless.
