Subject: unable to install packagesOS: solaris 8CPU/Ram: 233 mhz x86 256mb |
Comment: hello. I am having trouble installing any/all packages on my Solaris 8 x86. For example, after downloading top-3.5beta12.5-sol8-intel-local.gz, i unzip it to top-3.5beta12.5-sol8-intel-local, make it executable and then issue ./top-3.5beta12.5-sol8-intel-local. I then receive the following errors (multiple times): ./top-3.5beta12.5-sol8-intel-local: 1: not found and ./top-3.5beta12.5-sol8-intel-local: syntax error at line 62: `)' unexpected What is this error? I have installed packages on this system before with no problems. It 'may' be that ever since i installed the x86 patch cluster I have had this problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! -craig

Reply: (edit)answer to own question: Turns out I also ran 'pkgadd -d . ' and the system returned, no packages in directory to install. But, when I did, ' pkgadd -d to* ' it found the package to be installed.
