Comment: I picked up a whole bundle of Triojan virus's and malware with a file i downloaded from Utorrent, my background changed top a 'fake' background with a biohazard symbol and a virus warnin, also my own background was changed to a blue privacy warning. i immediatly ran spybot & then McAfee which both picked up a few bits and then i re started my machine and it seems to of sorted the screen problems and all the 'windows' looking virus alerts but im left with VRUS ALERT! next to my clock in the toolbar and my machine is running really slowly. So far i have downloaded and run Spybot McAfee CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) please help!!! i have read through lots of forums on this subject after i googled it and im more confused than i was before! i am so out of my depth with this one!

Reply: (edit)"virus's and malware with a file i downloaded from Utorrent" This isn't your only fault. You need to use other best practices to avoid these issues. (and don't download files) Consider a clean install from known good media. Implement best practices. Install AV and sweep your other media. "Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Reply: (edit) Please download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2: Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link: Hijack This 1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop. 2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program. 3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis. 4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button. 5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log. 6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad. 7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log. 8. Paste the log in your next reply. 9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Reply: (edit)or as i would probably have told him in msn get http://www.mstsoftware.com/Files/ms... the program MstIsUsedBy and use it on 1 of the "infected but un-deletable" files, then search for that exe-name in registry/Msconfig and delete any entries you find, restart the pc, and AVG would most likely be able to delete it EDIT: um jabuck how the heck did you make that link? its at least not [URL=] system :p
