Subject: Recovery disk busted need driversOS: win 98 SECPU/Ram: 96.0 MBModel/Manufacturer: nec ready 330T notebook |
Comment: I recently got a nec 330T ready notebook. The previous owner had put XP on it, and because it was so slow on this laptop, he recomended I format the hard drive and re-install win 98. I did that, but then I discovered the recovery disk was cracked. I am rather new at this, so I'm not exactly sure what it is I am missing, but I think it's the drivers for just about whatever it is I need drivers for. (sound card, video card) So what am I missing, and how do I get it?

Reply: (edit)Firstly go to Windows / Microsoft Updates and install all the Updates, choose the second Custom updates. When you have undertaken all upodates check DEVICE MANAGER for any missing drivers.

Reply: (edit)Does that require connection to the internet on the laptop? This desktop I am using is connected, but I'm not sure how to connect the laptop, even though it has network card and a modem. I tried connecting, but it says I don't have enough pixels, which I can't get unless I get drivers. I think. I think you mean to go to the microsoft web site and download them. If you do not, please enlighten me. Edit: It doesn't seem to recognize the network card. Say, can I download updates onto a disk and transfer them to the laptop?
