Subject: Help! Super VGA colors!!!!!!!OS: TigerCPU/Ram: 358mb |
Comment: Okay, My computer (Tiger Systems with an NEC MultiSync77 monitor, using windows 98)seems to have all the necessary drivers in order for me to get 256/16 high resolution colors, but when I attempt to install the "Super VGA" driver off the windows disk, and restart the computer, it says that my display settings are wrong. It keeps telling me that the driver best suited for my computer/display is this "Standard PCI" crap thingy (only 16 bits). I've gone as far as to download color monitor specifics for my MultiSync, but that doesn't seem to be directly related to this problem. PLEASE help me install the Super VGA. PLEEEEEASE!!!!!! THANK YOU...

Reply: Hello, I have been having the same problem and I found a solution to it!! Now with me I also have on Onboard Graphics Adapter, so it is built into the motherboard. I am running a Dell dimension L667r and runing Win98 second editon. I reformated my hard drive and re installed windows and I was then stuck in the 16 color VGA mode. I have been reading forums like this one and trying to figure out what to do and I finally came upon a CD that I had from DEll and in it I found a file with drivers from intel. I intsalled them and now it all works fine. What seems to happen at least with mine is that the computer when you wipe it on the mother board all it can understand is the VGA mode, so this little fix updates at least my bios to the intel 810e Chipset Graphics Driver. In the system settings it looks like this. Intel(R) 810e Chipset Graphics Driver (DC133 FSB133) 4.11.01.1361 Now all motherboards are a little different. But all you need to do is find its chipset and then go from there. If you don't know how to do that then drop me a line. So e-mail me if you want to and I can help you find what chipset your mobo is and where and what you need to do. Also check out intel and search their site using the keywords " Graphics Driver" It really is a lot to explain here but if you are really needing help, just e-mail me and I will help you out the best I can . By the way From start to finish I fixed my problem in 3 hours. So I might be able to help packa123@hotmail.com
