Hi everyone. Happy Holidays!

I have been having a problem with initializing my Sound Blaster PCI 128 Card in DOS. Whenever I enter DOS, and emm386 is running, I run a program called sbinit.com. Whenever I run the sbinit.com program, it gives an error that says an environment variable "SBPCI" is not found and that the driver will not be installed. What does this mean and how do I get my sound card to run in DOS? (Below is a list of files I have for my sound card, if it helps anyone.) If anyone can tell me how I could make a boot disk that would initialize my sound card, that would also be appreciated. I use Windows ME and have a DOS partition. Thanks.

Sound Blaster PCI 128 Files

A3D.DLL ENSQIO.VXD SBLEGACY.EXE
AC3API.DLL IWLANG.DLL SBLOAD.EXE
CLNUTIL.DLL MIXRES32.DLL SBMIXER.EXE
CLNUTL16.DLL MT32.EXE SBPCI.BIN
CLNUTL32.DLL SBCFG.EXE SBPCI.INI
ENSCFG32.EXE SBINIT.COM SBPCI9X.DRV
SBPCI9X.HLP SBTEST.EXE

You must set the environment variable named SBPCI to the full path of the location where the DOS drivers for the sound card are located, and you must do it before running sbinit.com. Example:

SET SBPCI=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\AUDIO\DOSDRV

I reckon you must also set the BLASTER variable with the sound card's settings. Example:

SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H7 P330 T6

Got it? You may put such lines (addapted to your case) to your autoexec.bat file (located on the root), before the line which invokes sbinit.com (in case you included such line in autoexec).
