Comment: Finaly I run mp3 playing on drdos with Mpxplay(er). It's a really powerfull but little prgy. BUT(!) when MULTITASKER mode is ON (on drdos lite), what is my intension, there is no sound in speakers, or just something like pink noise in intervals. Do someone knows more why? How to solve this problem. I want to play music on one task, (background) and to runs program or "command line" in foreground. Thanks.

Reply: Yes, so I put mail here because I exactly know what I'm searching for and where the problem is - how to share memory, how to mapping memory pools what to protect, blah, blah... or something completly different... now. Hi(n)t me where to look, search? I noticed that there are several "books" and only two I eliminated network and tcp/ip. So dear clever orbital because you know the solution, please be more specific koz DR-DOS is more task switcher than multi-asking.

Reply: It is! Made some prggys wich do nothing but counting (incriment by 1 some value) and display it on screen. Start the progam and swich to another task. Then go back to the task where counter runs and yes, the value 'grows up'. So, I suppose that the point is in memory organize. (well if someone knows for some tsr program which be able to play mp3 (m3u) oh, boy! that will be pretty nice. (but no CDs) From the hard.) or mabe some os with only 2 tasks (and one dos emulation) ...

Reply: What soundcard are you using? If it is a Sound Blaster 16 there is a small virtual device driver for DR-DOS' task manager to allow sound to be played under multitasker mode. It is called blastvxd, and you can find it here.
