Can anyone comment about a 64MB barrier in (hmmmm) straight DOS? My dual boot XP/DOS computer can only see 64MB when in DOS.

That is correct up to MSDOS6.xx only 64MB is recognized, this was overcome in MSDOS7.xx. You could try using HIMEM.SYS from W98!

The Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 95555 states: HIMEM.SYS implements all of the XMS except the optional UMB portion. HIMEM.SYS versions earlier than 3.0 are XMS 2.0 compliant and recognize up to 16 MB of RAM; versions 3.0 and later (first included with Windows 3.10 and MS-DOS 6.0) are XMS 3.0 compliant and recognize up to 4 GB. I have tried using HIMEM.SYS from W98 to no avail. Could it be particular to Dell [Dimension] computers? Dell told me to upgrade to flash bios A06 which did not help.
