Hello everyone my roommates laptop has been having issues connecting ever since i got rid of the old Modem/Router.
ISP: Comcast
Old Modem/Router Arris
New Modem
Motorola SB6121 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
New Router
ASUS Dual-Band Wireless-N 600 Router (RT-N56U)
Laptop Specs
Windows Vista Home Premium
Toshiba satellite a205
Processor intel celeron cpu 1.86 ghz
RAM : 2GB
32 bit OS
So what happened is I decide to buy my own modem and router returned the one comcast was charging me for I bought the ones stated above My computer and my laptop had little to no issues connecting to the new router. My roommates connected then said local access limited or no connectivity. It was connected for a little bit I tried Windows update cause I noticed a lot of things was out dated I thought it was fixed he told me the other day it wasn’t Well now I cant get a connection at all.
What I have tried.
1.Google the problem
I have been on Microsoft sites and various sites trying to fix it no luck.
2. Anti virus and firewall.
NO NORTON or McAfee installed. Windows firewall disabled.
3. Installed malwarebytes
No spyware/malware dected.
4. Direct connection to modem
I unhooked the router and plugged the ethernet cable to the laptop directly no luck.
5.Ive disabled the IPv6 connection
No luck there either.
6.Updated the drivers
Atheros ARG5007EG wireless network adpater
Realtek RTL8101EFamily PCI-E Fast ethernet NIC
No luck after that either
