My Acer Aspire M5 481PT Does Not Charge The Battery.

The external power supply has been replaced but the charge indicator on the laptop does not light and the battery is not charging. What do I do to fix this please.

    1. Acer advise that the battery in your model Aspire will go for 1000 cycles of discharge/charge. They state that represents about 4yrs use…

      However… I think that if you haven’t gone the 1000 cycles in 4 yrs. likely the battery will last longer.

      My elderly Aspire 1692series – 2005 I think I bought it – still has the original battery and it’s fine. Battery has been in some of the time, but seldom dischared to any degree. Then was “out” for an age. Then after a rebuild of the installation – to resolve a “pest” and also to get the charging process back to normal within the M$windows software – it is charges fine. Not that it really needs charging, as laptop is on mains power with battery in place all the time.

      Amazon has a good range of battery supplies and associated vendors. Might be worth to check what the cost of a replacement is?

      Presumably the laptop is working OK on mains power – with or without the battery installed?
