Solved Google Chrome Waiting For Cache Error Freezes Win 8.1 PC

  • 1

Hey Everyone,

Recently, Chrome will randomly decide to lock up my entire computer while loading a webpage. As far as I can tell, it only happens on sites that I haven’t ever been too. Basically, the webpage will stop loading and I see the text Waiting For Cache in the bottom left hand corner of the window. Once I close Chrome, Windows completely stops responding. I can open things like the charms bar, but it won’t let me click on anything or load any applications. The only ways I have found to fix this is to either force the computer off by holding the power button for 6 seconds then rebooting the computer, or by holding Ctrl + Alt + Del. When I do this, it brings up a grey screen that says Please Wait… which lasts for approx. 45 seconds.

Is this just a problem with Chrome itself, or do you think it’s a Windows related issue?

Thanks

  1. Try clearing Chrome’s cache, cookies & history.

You can do that from within Chrome itself, but that isn’t totally satisfactory because the browser is still open. Best method to clean Chrome thoroughly is with Ccleaner:

So you close Chrome first, then clean with Ccleaner.
