Solved Format Error ’23’ While HDD Low Level Format 4.25 an USB-HDD

  • 3

I’m running HDD Low Level Format Tool 4.25 on my ultrabook Medion AKOYA 54216. Error message: “format error occured at offset <sector>: 23” occures more than 20 times
while low level formatting my TrekStor EXpress USB-HDD 500 GB.
Does anybody knows the meaning of ’23’?
Should I trash the HDD away?

  1. Error 23 = Cyclic Redundancy Check Error

The drive has failed and is therefore no longer usable. No software can repair a failed drive.
