One of our employees laptop just suddenly stopped working (he says). When switched it shows a message that indicates that there is no booting device and that there is no OS. I tried making a custom installation of Windows 7, but when i get to the part where I am to select the driver to be installed i get the message “No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK”. Kindly advise on what i am to do here. The laptop is a HP 655.

Yes, it does sound like a failed hard drive. Installing drivers at this point would only be needed if say you were installing onto a PCIe SSD drive or other non-standard drive. If the drive is a SATA (or PATA) drive, then no drives are needed. If the installer does not find a conventional hard drive, then it looks for non-standard drives and since it is not finding them either, is asking you for the software that will allow it to find and use a non-standard drive that is does not see.
