Windows 7 Install Error: Windows Could Not Configure One

  • 19

I am performing a clean install of windows 7 on a new PC I just built. Asus H81M-E Mobo, Kingston 4GB Ram, Intel G3220 & Seagate 1TB HDD.

I performed a secure erase of the my USB Flash Install Drive with “Clean All” command in DISKPART and reformatted the drive in ntfs

When I install Windows 7 x64 bit I get an error 85% through that says “windows could not configure one or more system components” and requires a new installation.

I am stumped. I have retried 13 Times tonight. I have tried changing the SATA Ports my Cabled were plugged into from the 6Gbits to the SATA 3Gbit ports. I have changed from AHCI to IDE in BIOS, nothing works. I have also switched USB Ports, and USB Drives. WHY WON’T WINDOWS INSTALL??!??!

(Side Note: I built this EXACT same build for my Aunt last week and it installed perfectly).

  1. Boot off the DVD, delete ALL partitions, create one or more new ones, format using NTFS (full is better than quick but it will take quite a while), then proceed with the installation.
