There Was A Problem Burning This Disc

  • 0

I try and burn a data disc using Windows 7, then I get an error message ‘The disc wasn’t burned successfully. Make sure that you have the latest firmware for your CD or DVD burner installed, and then try again.’

It is an LG DVD writer and I have checked whether the drivers are all up to date, and they are. I’m trying to burn to a Verbatim CD-R Extra Protection 52x speed disc. The writer can max 48x speed.

I’m not sure why this is not working, it was working yesterday still with another HP CD, no problem 🙁

  1. Try a different blank disc

Some reasons why the disc you may be using is not working: You are trying to use the wrong type of disc that is not compatible with the optical drive on your computer. You are trying to use a disc that has already been closed (write-protected) in the previous write or burn process.

  2. When a computer running Windows 7 is unable to burn discs, the problem might be the computer’s compatibility with the disc type. The type of disc you use for burning must be compatible with the type of disc drive in your computer. That is, you cannot burn a DVD-R disc in a drive that does not support DVD-R technology.

  3. Could be the media you are using is the problem. Try different disks. Also try burning at a slower speed. As burners are used the lenses become dirty. This can cause burning errors.
You can try cleaning the lenses with a cleaning kit. The lasers also become weaker with use. Reading a disk takes less laser power than writing one.

There are two lasers of different wavelengths in a combination drive. One can be weaker or even dead, while the other works OK.
